Description
POLYHEED SG 30, the thixotropic component of the Meyco Total Consistency Control System, is a chloride-free water reducer. POLYHEED SG 30 is formulated to enhance the performance of shotcrete and grouts when used in combination with other Meyco TCC products.
POLYHEED SG 30 complies with the performance requirements of the EFNARC sprayed concrete standard.
Primary Uses
POLYHEED SG 30 is recommended for use in all shotcrete and grouts where total consistency control properties are desired.
Shotcrete
- Tunnels
- Mining
- Repair
- Slope protection
- Irrigation ditches
- Dams
Grout
- Soil stabilisation
- Backfill
- Compaction
- Dams
Advantages
- Increased compressive and flexural strengths.
- Long open time and extremely good slump retention.
- Improved cohesion, allowing for reduced accelerator dosage.
- Reduced rebound
- Improved pumpability
- Immediate change in rheology when combined with other Meyco Total Consistency Control components (nozzle for wet shotcrete, static mixer for grout).
Packaging
POLYHEED SG 30 is supplied in 210 litre drums.

Dosage
The dosage range of POLYHEED SG 30 when used singularly for water reduction and improved pumpability is 0.4 - 1.0 litre per 100kg of total cementitious material.
However, when used as a Meyco TCC component, the minimum dosage is 1.2 litre per 100kg of total cementitious material (min 6 litre / m³ mix).
BASF does not recommend the use of dosage rates outside of the recommended range without trial testing and consulting your local BASF sales representative for assistance in determining the dosage rate for optimum performance.
Temperature precaution
If POLYHEED SG 30 freezes, thaw at 2°C or above and completely reconstitute by mild mechanical agitation.
Handling precautions
Do not use pressurised air for agitation. If necessary, material should be stirred very carefully.
For additional information on POLYHEED SG 30 admixture or on its use in developing a shotcrete or grout mix with Total Consistency Control benefits, contact your local BASF representative.
Storage
Store under cover, out of direct sunlight and protect from extremes of temperature.
Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging. For specific storage advice consult BASF's Technical Services Department.
Shelf life
Shelf life is 12 months in unopened original packing and when stored as stated above.
