MASTERTILE 540 

Description

MASTERTILE 540 is a specially designed premixed tile grout tested in accordance with BS 5980: 1984. Requiring only the on site addition of water, MASTERTILE 540 is particularly suitable for joints of up to 12mm wide.

Primary uses

Grouting of tile joints up to 12mm wide in both floor and wall tiles.

Application procedure

Mixing instructions:

Mix the powder with water to a thick consistency. No further water should be added.

Application instructions:

Ensure that the joint to be grouted is clean and that the adhesive is sufficiently set to avoid disturbance of the tiles. Spread the grout over the surface of the tiles with a squeegee, working it fully into the joints. After the initial set has taken place and the grout surface has become fairly firm, spread more grout onto the surface to level the joints. When this has firmed up, use a flat, damp sponge and wipe the surface of the tiles until all the surplus grout is removed.

Watchpoints

During application:

• Avoid exposure to rain, frost, wind or direct heat which may impair the setting of the grout.
• Take normal curing precautions when using cement based products.

Coverage

1kg will be sufficient for grouting approximately 27 to 29 metres run of joint 6mm wide x 3mm deep.

Equipment care

Clean all equipment immediately after use with water.

Specification clause

MASTERTILE 540:

All floor and wall tiles shall be grouted using MASTERTILE 540 manufactured by BASF Middle East, or similar approved manufacturer to the following specification:

MASTERTILE 540 shall be used strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.

Health and safety

As with all chemical products, care should be taken during use and storage to avoid contact with eyes, mouth, skin and foodstuffs. Treat splashes to eyes and skin immediately. If accidentally ingested, seek medical attention. Reseal containers after use. Use in well ventilated areas and avoid inhalation.

Storage

Store under cover, clear of the ground on pallets protected from rainfall. Avoid excessive compaction. Failure to comply with the recommended storage conditions may result in premature deterioration of the product or packaging. For specific storage advice consult BASF's Technical Services Department.
